BASTINADOES

Bastinadoes was a group of "damn fine fugging people" who met through what started out as an MMORPG fan-fiction web site, FanStory.com. FanStory blossomed into something much bigger, and more prosperous for its creator. As part of its growing pains however, several of the "Old Guard" -- fanfic writers and readers who had been with the site nearly from its inception -- left the site (and in some cases were asked to leave) under less than happy circumstances. Bastinadoes evolved from this split, and was even aptly referred to as the "FanStory Recovery Clinic" at one time.

Over time, Bastinadoes disbanded. But they are still some damn fine fugging people, some of the best authors and creative minds I've had the pleasure of knowing. You can find what remains of the Bastinadoes message board here. While the board is pretty much dead, the authors are still alive and kicking. You can find them below.

THE URBAN INDEX

Bryn Sparks started a fantastic project, called Urb, which many Bastinadoes participated in. One of the Bastinadoes collected many of our posts about Urb and put them together into "The Urban Index." Hopefully, you will be able to read some of the stories written under this project in the near future, until then (and quite possibly even afterwards), the Urban Index is closed to non-Bastinadoes for copyright protection. If you are a Bastinado and want access to the Urban Index but forgot your password, drop me a line at kimgonzo at hotmail dot com.

Writing as Fun

Unfortunately, with multiple EZBoard crashes and for other reasons, we've lost a few fantastic old threads. These are a few good ones I found while skimming through what's left of the archive.
